It’s Not Too Late. It’s Too Expensive to Wait
How I Rebuilt My Life After 40 Without Losing Everything I’d Worked For
If you’re over 40 and wondering if it’s too late to change your life, here’s the truth: the real risk isn’t failing. It’s staying exactly where you are.
I had the career title, the stability, the “dream life” on paper, and I was completely miserable.
Burned out at work. Suffocating in a marriage I didn’t want to admit no longer fit.
Doing all the “right” things to feel better and nothing stuck.
It wasn’t until I learned how my energy was actually designed to work that everything shifted. Now, life after 40 is the most magnetic, unapologetic, and me it’s ever been.
I’m no longer paying for misalignment physically, mentally, or emotionally.
Here’s how I got here … and how you can too.
The “Dream Life” That Nearly Broke Me
Not long ago, I was absolutely exhausted, drained, and slowly dying the most soul-sucking professional death imaginable. I was the Director of HR at a Fortune 100 company, sitting in the role I had clawed my way up to for years. And I hated it.
The pressure was relentless. I was drowning under unrealistic expectations, micromanaged by a narcissistic ass-hat who smiled to your face but sharpened knives behind your back. He, prodded along by a direct report, even fabricated situations so that he could launch an “investigation” into my leadership style to get me out and cover his own reputation.
Every day was a new shitstorm. Most of which had nothing to do with me, yet somehow always landed in my lap. And when I couldn’t fix what should never been in my realm to begin with? I was blamed.
I threw everything at the problem:
Hired a coach out of my own pocket (because I couldn’t trust what the company might do with someone they hired)
Read every personal development book I could find
Meditated, journaled, worked out twice a day, cleaned up my diet
All of it helped, but only in fleeting bursts.
And underneath it all was the guilt. The truth I couldn’t even say out loud: I wanted out of my marriage. But the thought of actually speaking it, rocking that boat, risking the stability I’d built? Terrifying.
I felt frustrated. Imprisoned. Guilty. Ashamed. Confused. Fatigued. Unsettled. For every waking hour of every day I was a shell of who I knew I could be. The only time I felt remotely alive was when I was at the gym.
I was paying for a life that didn’t fit in every way possible.
Fast Forward: My Life Now
Today, I own my time. I own my energy. I own my life.
I left the corporate role in 2019 and, just last year, finally found the courage to speak my truth about marriage. And here’s the wild part: not only am I happier, lighter, and more at peace, but my ex and I have a healthier, more supportive relationship than we ever did when we were married, and our boys feel it more too!
I radiate in a way people can feel before I even speak. Strangers, friends, clients. They all tell me they notice a difference in my energy. And the truth is, I’m not “doing” more. I’m simply living as myself.
I’m no longer apologizing for my big energy or molding myself to ensure the comfort of others. I’m learning to accept my energy and decisions might lead them to feel uncomfortable, but it’s not my responsibility to manage. I love and accept myself in ways I never have, or quite frankly, didn’t think were possible. I trust my powerful intuition. The deep, often unexplainable knowing I used to hide because it didn’t fit the “logical” mold.
Life after 40 is better than I ever imagined. And it’s not because I worked harder. It’s because I finally stopped working against myself. I realigned my “energetic investments.”
The Turning Point
The thing that made it possible?
Learning my energy.
When I discovered Human Design, everything started to click into place. I could see, with crystal clarity, why the job drained me (and it wasn’t just the toxic boss). Why I carried the weight of everyone else’s emotions instead of speaking my truth. Why I felt so deeply misaligned in my own life.
Human Design gave me the blueprint for how I was actually built to operate vs. the way I was told I “should.” It validated my inner knowing, gave me language for what I’d always felt, and helped me release years of conditioned self-doubt, guilt, and fear.
Once I started aligning with my true frequency, everything shifted.
My relationships. My decisions. My energy. My life.
